Site Information
Supported Browsers
This website has been designed and tested to look best on the latest versions (as well as some older versions) of the major browsers running on Windows XP or 2000. The list of browsers (and version numbers, if necessary) and platforms on which the website is known to render correctly is shown below, along with links to locations where you can download their latest versions. If no platform details are specified, the browsers have so far only been tested on Windows XP and 2000):
- Internet Explorer 6+
- Mozilla Firefox (Windows XP and 2000, and Mac OS X)
- Mozilla
- Netscape 7.1+
- Opera (Note: slightly buggy display on Products, Earth and Solar System pages)
- Safari on Mac OS X
Internet Explorer for Mac OS X does not currently render the website well. Support for this browser will be added at a later date.
Earthsim would like to keep this website as accessible as possible, so any feedback you could give us on the performance of the website would be much appreciated. If you run one of these browsers and the website does not display correctly, please send an email to webmaster@earthsim.tv detailing your problem (including browser version number, operating system and screen resolution). Similarly, if your browser doesn't feature on this list please get in touch to tell us whether or not the website displays correctly (feedback for Internet Explorer 5.5 on Windows would be particularly valuable - we've had mixed results so far).
Supported Screen Resolutions
The website will look best when viewed at 1280 x 1024 or higher, but it has been designed to resize down to 1024 x 768.
HTML and Cascading Style Sheets
The web pages were created using HTML 4.01 Strict, as specified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), to force all browsers into obeying the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) standards.
The website uses CSS to manage the layout and graphical presentation of the website content. The style sheet used validates as CSS2 according to the standards set by the W3C, meaning the style-related aspects of the website should render correctly and consistently on all CSS-enabled browsers (e.g. any of those on the above list).
